CAPTAIN'S DAY
Friday 3rd September 2010
Overstone Park Golf Club

RESULTS

Once  again Alan arranged sparkling weather for a brillant day at Overstone. Free breakfast, free betting, free booze, just a great free-for-all, and a Mercedes on the dolly trolley, what more could anyone want. All seasons main competitions were decided as well as the day's Captain's Cup. Patty came out on top in this one, cementing the consistency and improvement in form he has shown through the year.

The other much awaited result was who would become the 2010 Champion Golfer by winning the Order of Merit. The pressure got to all the top five because none of them got anywhere close to their previous highest scores. So the Order of Merit was decided on 4 from 5 scores rather than 3 from 5 which was the original target. And the deserved winner and Champion Golfer is Tony (Faldo) Farrow who has shown great consistency throughout the season, all his scores being 30 or above.

A man to watch next season is John Bridgwood, a new member qualifying for his Society handicap, achieved the best score of the day with 39 points and also won the longest drive.

The doubles trophy went to Fergy and Patty for the third year in succession after a hard fought final against Chris Bone and Matt Decaro - who will beat them?? Matt Decaro also featured in a rain soaked singles final held the week before Captain's Day in which he easily beat a totally bedraggled Brian Dunne. Matt said he liked  playing in the wet!! Brian's comments are unprintable!

The remaining presentation was the Society award. This can't be won, it is conferred, in recognition of a member's support and loyalty to Dallington Golf Society over many years. Basically the person is a good egg, and this year it was deservedly achieved by Alan Rhodes.

All the detailed results for Captain's Day are given below. The Order of Merit table can be found by clicking the last button in the right hand column.
